Axel Oberschelp studied history and philosophy at Bielefeld University and at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He has worked at the DZHW, formerly known as HIS Hochschul-Informations-System GmbH, since 2008 as a researcher in the comparison of equipment, costs and performance, as a senior researcher in the project "Benchmarking of HEIs" and in other projects with ministries and HEIs. From 2005 to 2007 he worked in the Francke Foundations in Halle/Saale as a museum assistant. Before that, he was a researcher in the "Franckes Schulen" research project in the August Hermann Francke Study Centre in Halle/Saale, funded by the DFG, and scientific assistant at Bielefeld University with a focus on teaching quality. His main research interests are indicators, information systems and performance measurement and performance evaluation for HEIs.
