The study commissioned by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) seeks to identify the most important potentials for future developments of structures, programmes and procedures from a German perspective, particularly with regard to the interim evaluation of the Horizon Europe Programme and the design of the 10th EU Framework Programme for research and innovation.
Building on a statistical analysis of the German participation in the previous Framework Programme "Horizon 2020" (as well as initial preliminary data on Horizon Europe), methods of empirical social and economic research will be applied to investigate the significance of EU research funding for the German research and innovation system and how it interacts with national funding structures. A complementary focus is on monitoring and analysing current trends in European research and innovation policy.
The sub-project of the DZHW carries out the statistical analysis and thus also supports the further work of the cooperation partners Joanneum Research and the Centre for Social Innovation.
